Old Bloxhamists come together for the annual London Meet
Last night nearly 100 Old Bloxhamists came together for the annual London Meet.
Marking the first OB event of 2019, the drinks reception was held in the heart of Mayfair at the stylish Lansdowne Club, former home of Harry Gordon Selfridge where he lived between 1921-1929.
It was fantastic to see such a wide range of OBs, former and current members of staff, as well as friends of the school, spanning eight decades. Everyone came together sharing their fond memories of their time at school and catching up with old friends and making new ones. The room was full of laughter, chatting and a fair few selfies.
Headmaster Paul Sanderson welcomed guests and thanked them for coming to the event from near and far. Talking about the increasingly popular and wide ranging fixtures, dinners and networking events in the diary for OBs, he also spoke about the health of the school ‘ the academic strengths, the successful sports teams, the incredible choir, powerful drama performances and wide ranging opportunities offered to students.
During the short talk, the Headmaster also delighted OBs with the history that the event was on the eve of the day 159 years ago, when Bloxham School was founded. It was in 1860 that the Reverend Philip Egerton opened the school. At the time the announcement stated: ‘The course of introduction includes the English, French, and Latin Languages; Vocal Music;Writing; Arithmetic, and the other details of a sound commercial education’ Greek, German, the Piano and Drawing are extras.’
The evening was a great success and plans are afoot for next year’s London Meet. To view photos from the evening, please click here.
