This year we are delighted to be celebrating 20 years of a fully co-educational Bloxham School. As part of our celebrations to mark this milestone in the school’s history, we commissioned a five minute film to showcase our excellent co-educational offering.
Produced by Old Bloxhamist Will Warr (Cr 01-18) and his team at Detail Films, the filming took place in the summer and involved hundreds of pupils, engaging in a huge variety of activities ‘- in lessons, in the library, in Chapel, playing sport, in the houses and everything in between. The film narrative follows the inspirational stories of three Old Bloxhamists, their journey since leaving and how the school’s core Christian values, incredible teaching and excellent broader curriculum offering helped them to become the successful women they are today.
Headmaster Paul Sanderson explains: ‘Twenty years is a great milestone for the school and it is times like these that allow us to reflect upon and celebrate this history of co-educational success. I am a passionate believer in co-education and how it raises standards for both boys and girls. Our school ethos encourages all our students, regardless of their gender, to explore every opportunity, seek new experiences, enjoy and embrace learning and their education, and above all to achieve their personal best.’
Founded in 1860, Bloxham School officially started admitting girls in 1973. The school became fully co-educational in 1998 with the re-opening of Raymond House as a girls house. Today, there are two girls boarding houses on the main school campus, Raymond and Wilberforce, and girls make up around 40% of the school population.
