In May, the Old Bloxhamist Golfing Society came together for the Spring Meet at Tadmarton Golf Course, playing for the Greenway Trophy. It was wonderful to welcome many golfers, including John Benfield (Cr 76-82), Robin Olley (Wn 56-58) and Ian Turton (Ry 83-88), a previous winner returning after many years. There were lots of good scores, in particular by John Nason (Wf 56-59) and Mark Nash (Wf 81-23) with Mark narrowly missing out on the Greenway Trophy after a count back on the back nine.
Following a couple of drinks in the club house, the Society had a thoroughly enjoyable meal. Stories of school were recounted and a good time was had by all.
Results (Greenway Trophy): 1st John Nason (36 (18) points), 2nd Ian Cooper (36 (17) points), 3rd John Williams (35), 4th Pete Deeley (34).
There was also an impromptu School v OB match at Rye Hill Golf Club, led by Head of Golf Edward Selby-Lowndes. Playing in a ‘Texas Scramble’ format, the OBs were captained by Charlie Gulliver (Sy 10-15) and included Harry Rymer (Cr 10-15), Jonny Stirrup (Sy 08-15), Oli Haynes (Sy 08-15), Callum Horne (Eg 11-13) and George King (Sy 16-21). The School team were victorious 2-1.
