Last week saw us wrap up the first half of the Michaelmas Term with the long-standing Bloxham traditions of House Music and House Sport. Well done to all the students and staff who contributed to two memorable events.
Friday saw the return of House Music, with the theme this year of “Songs From The Movies.” Each House came together to perform a song apiece in unison and a smaller group of students from every House also shared an ensemble act. Wilberforce were triumphant overall thanks to their energetic rendition of “Take A Hint,” which had us all tapping our feet along with them. A special mention must also go to Seymour, the winners of the ensemble category.
On Saturday, we turned our attention to the sports fields for House Rugby, House Hockey and House Badminton. After a close fought battle, Egerton were the winners of the Senior Rugby A category, just pipping Wilson to the post, while Merton were triumphant in the B category, narrowly defeating Seymour. Despite the other Houses’ best efforts, Wilson won the Junior A competition with Seymour coming in second, and Merton again topped the listings in the B category, pushing Wilson into second place.
We saw some excellent play on the hockey pitches, with Raymond taking the top position in the Senior A competition, defeating Wilberforce. However, the tides turned for the Senior B contest, with Wilberforce coming out on top and pushing Raymond into second spot! Raymond were the winners in both the Junior A and B groups, with Stonehill similarly coming in second in both categories.
Last but not least, the Badminton competition saw Merton hitting their way to victory for the Senior Boys, narrowly beating Seymour, while Raymond triumphed in the Senior Girls’ contest, with Stonehill coming in second.
Well done to everyone who took part and we hope that you have a well-earned rest over Half Term.
